The Hidden Sentence
Purpose The purpose of Hidden Sentence the Rehab Period (HSTRP) is to provide support, through active mentorship, resource referrals, and the meaningful participation of individuals coming out of incarceration (Releasees) for the purpose of reducing the rate of recidivism; assist in helping those with criminal backgrounds in restoring family bonds, advocacy, and transition services for successful reentry into society. This 501-3c shall establish committees made up of Releasees, their families, loved ones, and community members who will encourage and support a positive re-entry into the Releasees’ community. HSTRP shall be a self- governing and self-directed organization and shall adopt bylaws to govern the selection and appointment of its participants, their terms of service, the number of participants, and other procedural matters. The governing board shall execute an agreement that identifies the roles and responsibilities of each participant, channels of communication between the parties, and a process for resolving disputes between the participants. Participant groups shall be equally represented, and the participants shall reflect, as closely as possible, the racial and ethnic composition of the area being served. The participants shall identify service gaps, make recommendations regarding the service needs of our Releasees and monitor the development of additional services that might come available in the community. HSTRP will develop a collaborative working relationship with participants in the community to obtain input related to service delivery and South Carolina and North Carolina system changes.

In dark and uncertain moments in life; there is an assurance there is a way forward one just simply has to choose to move in a positive direction.
